Biography

Pavel Klečka was born on May 5, 1967 in Prague. In 1991 he graduated from the State Conservatory in Prague where he studied in the class of Prof. Charles Petr ( soloist of the State Opera Prague). In the third grade he received 1st place for the best performance of conterporary song on „Conservatories Competition“ in Pardubice. In these years he also collaborated with the Academy of Music Arts in Prague on their graduation performances.

In 1990 he became soloist of Chamber Opera Prague and then in 1993 also of Prague Original Music Theatre. In 1991 - 1992 seasons during his military service he joined the Symfonic Orchestra at AUS ( Army Artisttic Ensemble) as soloist, later a permanent guest and soloist of prestigious concerts from 1993 to 1995. After graduating from the Conservatory he proceeded his studies privatly at Václav Zítek and currently at Jiří Kotouč. Later he received training under leadership of P. Mikuláš and H. Rieling.

He began appearing as a guest in Liberec - F. X. Šalda Theatre, in Teplice North Bohemian Theatre, Music Theatre Karlín in Prague, City Theater in Ústí nad Labem, Original Music Theatre in Prague, South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, in Plzeň J. K. Tyl Theatre and State Opera Prague. He created around fifty roles of czech and international repertoire of operas and operattes , visiting as invited soloist Netherland, Israel , Danmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Luxemburg, Japan and USA. Regularly he participates at summer Opera festivals in Prague, Český Krumlov and Furth im Wald in Germany. His concert activities are very rich, as well as in Czech Republic as well as abroad.

He is interpretor of compositors from baroque era to our time. From 1998 he is cooperating with boyish chorus Boni Pueri, participating at around fifty performances of „The St. Mathew Passion“ in Netherland ( for example Concertgebouw in Amsterodam). In 2003 he was soloist of first original version performance of „ Elias“ by Mendelssohn - Bartholdy in Prague under conductor Thijs Kramer. He has collaborated with several significant conductors

(for example L. Svárovský, R. Hein, O. Dohnányi, A. Allemandi, J. Keenan, M. de Rose) and orchestras (for example Symfonic Orchestra of Czech Broadcasting, Pardubice Philharmony, North Bohemian Philharmony Teplice, East Bohemian Philharmony Hradec Králové, Bamberg Symphonies). In 2008 he started his career of a director (for example Ch. Lecocq: Giroflé - Girofla, F. Lehár: The land of Smiles).

He was nominated for the Thália award due to his characters of Renato (G.Verdi –Masquerade ball), Falstaff (A. Salieri – Falstaff), Prince Populescu (E. Kálmán - Countess Marica) and Kálmán Zsupán (J. Strauss – The Gypsy Baron).
